Been there numerous times, the food is great, but I ordered the 3 Items Platter (In this case Salmon, Kielbasa and Pulled Pork)..As usual it tasted great, but $30? Seems pretty high for the portion. I'll stick with the pulled pork sandwich for $13 in the future.
Wow! Wow!! What a great experience! I wish I could give this amazing place 10 stars! Management/owners really know what they are doing with the high quality, delicious food and training an incredible staff! Shout out to Bella who was an A+ server. We really went all out and tried a little bit of everything. Every bite was perfect. We enjoy the House of Blues when traveling. Wheelfish blew it out of the water! My kids said, it was the best mac n cheese they have ever had. We took a quart to go!! We will definitely be back soon!! Thank you!!
We had the baby back ribs with french fries that was really good the ribs were not fall off the bone which is how I like them. The french fries tasted like the Potato Patch at Kennywood. We also had the brisket that seemed a little dry I didn't like it as much but the barbecue sauce the board was probably my favorite sweet one wasn't too bad. I did not like the mac and cheese it wasn't 100% hot but it didn't have a whole hell of a lot of flavor and I haven't had it for a while but she said it tasted a little like Velveeta cheese. You're probably try the chicken next time.
Maybe we went on an off night, but we were pretty disappointed. Our food came out barely warm at best and we waited way too long for our drinks (both of our beers were room temperature by the time we got them). It wasn’t particularly busy either. We’ll try it out again and fingers crossed it ends up being a better experience.
Oh my god. I'm in heaven.
Great food. Great service. Great ambiance. So much to talk about; where to start?
The wings are smoked and then fried. I've never had anything like it; placing these as the best wings in a category of their very own. It's not fair to compare these to other fried wings (but yes, they are better). We ordered six Spicy Cowboy. I haven't tried the other sauces, but I'm sold on this one.
My main course, a half rack of ribs, were some of the best ribs I've ever had. They were juicy on the inside, came apart easily, but had a crunchy bark on the outside that exploded with flavor with every bite.
The basic mac & cheese is somehow the best mac & cheese I've ever had at a restaurant? I'm honestly puzzled at this one since it's a small side without any toppings. The macaroni noodles are cooked perfectly al dente, tossed in a unique, light cheese sauce, creating this textured combination that makes your tongue dance for joy.
Pulled pork egg rolls were crunchy and flavorful. Sweet potato fries were crispy, delicious, and sweet without being too sweet; we didn't even need to use the brown sugar dipping sauce. Our draft beers were fresh and tasty.
The only thing we wouldn't order again are the tacos. They were kind of bland, boring, and fell right through the bottom of the shell when picked up. Kind of strange considering how well they do everything else.
This was a solid find for us. We will be back and bring everyone we know here.
Wheelfish is a casual BBQ restaurant that is inside a distressed wooden building. Their menu lists appetizers such as pulled pork nachos and quesadillas; entrees such as sandwiches, meats, and tacos; some sides such as corn muffins and sweet potato fries; some desserts; and some beers. Prices are moderate.
My husband and I greatly enjoyed our chicken, ribs, kielbasa, pulled pork taco, brisket taco, grilled vegetables, macaroni and cheese, and French fries. The fried deviled eggs were OK to good.
As for service, the waitress was very timely with seating us, taking our order, bringing out our food, and giving us the check. She had a very courteous personality. We appreciate that she suggested a sweet sauce for us and brought out a drink refill.
Pretty tasty BBQ. Brisket and Salmon were ok. Kielbasa was very good. Mac and Cheese and Napa slaw were solid. However, the best item and most surprising was the chicken leg!! Literally one of the best I have ever had at any BBQ restaurant. They smoke and then flash fry it. We ended up ordering another one off the kids menu because it was that good haha.
Edit... they have changed there BBQ selection they now have spicy sweet and bold bold was probably the best one. The Mac and cheese is quite good.
The brisket is so tender it falls apart. The salmon was amazing and there bbq sauce selection was nice the smokey Texas and Carolina bacon mustard where the best and if you mix them together it creates an amazing combo with all the key notes of flavor.
